cheap single Pushchair Single Pushchairs
If you’re on a tight budget and don’t require a stroller that can double into car seat carriers the Babyzen Yoyo is a good choice. It comes with a simple one-step foot brake that’s flip flop friendly.
It’s also a breeze to push and feels solid when you’re navigating kerbs and woodland pathways. It’s also easy to fold.
1. Babyzen YOYO2
The Babyzen YOYO2 has built a reputation as the ultimate light-weight buggy for jet-setters and city dwellers alike, thanks to its nimble maneuverability and fold-down that fits into the overhead luggage of an aeroplane. This latest version features independent suspension on all four wheels made of Hytrel elastomer, which allows it to ‘perfectly traverse all terrains and types’.
The curved fabric bassinet, base YOYO2 and the 6months of colour pack are combined to create a chic pushchair with a subtle, elegant aesthetic. The frame’s base weight is less than a kilogram and is so light that you can lift it out of the box using just one hand.
The hood, for example is able to snap onto the YOYO2 in a reassuring manner. It is also machine washable at 30deg which helps avoid stains caused by smushed rice cakes and carrot puffs. The Newborn Pack and bassinet can be used from birth as an infant stroller. It can also be converted into a stroller after 6 months with the YOYO connect to additional chassis.
2. Evenflo Pivot Xplore
The Evenflo Pivot Xplore is a fantastic choice for parents who are looking for a versatile stroller wagon. It can be converted from a stroller to wagon by simply flipping the handle, so parents can select the option they want to use on their adventure. The wagon can hold one or two kids from 6 months to 5 years old, and it comes with a spacious storage basket to accommodate everything you need on the go.
The Xplore also comes with two canopies that rotate from the front to the back, offering ample sun coverage for all family members. It has a smaller footwell than some wagons. This might not be ideal for long drives or napping.
The frame of the Xplore wagon feels solid and sturdy but it does not flex as much as some other wagons that we tried. It is also more difficult to fold than some of the competitors and does not secure when folded. It is easy to maneuver however, and can be able to fit through narrow 28-inch doors.
3. Delta Children LX Side-by-Side
This basic double stroller from Delta Children is an excellent option for parents who want an affordable second stroller for their travels. It scored well in our Strollers & Multiples Test for weight and fold dimensions, meaning it is best lightweight single stroller, compact when folded, and easy to carry and put in a trunk for your car. It also has a multi-position reclined seat and a cup holder for the parent. Other features worth mentioning include two large storage bags that hang from the ceiling and 360-degree front wheels that absorb shock.
It did better in our push and turn test than a lot of the strollers we tested, but it is nonetheless difficult to maneuver on uneven ground or through narrow doors. Its sunshades are among the most compact we tested, with only direct overhead coverage and no peekaboo windows. The UPPAbaby G-Link 2 has a more extensive canopy.
The Delta took us just over 3 minutes to assemble with an average manual and no components required tools. It’s missing certain features we consider essential in a double stroller. These include an extra-large basket, reclining seats and leg rests that can be adjusted.
4. Maxi-Cosi Zelia 2-in-1
The Zelia is Maxi-Cosi’s latest pushchair, and is advertised as a travel system for urban use. It is designed to take baby from birth up to around 3.5 years, converting easily into a seat and carrycot in just a few clicks. It can also be used with Maxi Cosi capsule car seats, and comes with the light Mico 30 infant car seat, a stay-incar base and a reversible baby carriage.
It’s a breeze to manoeuvre and the one-hand recline of the seat and the huge shopping basket make it easy for parent-tots to get the child out and in quickly. This narrow pushchair handled all day bumps and doorways with ease.
The front wheels can be locked into a forward position or allow them to rotate which helps when covering rough terrain. When we walked on the stony path, we allowed them to swivel and it handled this fairly well, though it did appear slightly bumpier than other models in our test.
5. Baby Jogger City Tour 2
Baby Jogger is most well-known for its 3-wheeled, all-terrain, strollers for jogging. But they also manufacture a vast variety of pushchairs that have four wheels. City Tour 2 is their most loved model. It is easy to fold and fits in the trunk of a car even with a carrycot attached.
It’s a bit heavier than other strollers that we test, however the wheels are made of rubber composite, which makes it feel well-built and sturdy. It is easy to maneuver across different terrains, and even with two kids, a shopping bag and other items.
The seat and carrycot both have hoods that can be pulled down to reveal sun canopy extensions that are UV50+. They are waterproof and strong unlike other prams’ hoods which are turned back into toddlers’ faces.
It doesn’t have a lot of storage space but it has an ample basket that is deep enough to hold a change bag or plenty of groceries. You can also use it with the Baby Jogger car seat that is suitable for babies up 20 lbs (car seat and adapters are sold separately). If you are looking for a stroller that can be taken on the road, then the City Tour 2 is an excellent choice.
6. Nuna Mixx Next
When the Nuna Mixx first came onto the scene, it stole the hearts of parents everywhere. It is an aluminium-framed stroller that can be used from the infant’s first days until. It has many standout features, including the capacity of the seat to be flipped between parent and world facing and a huge UPF50+ canopy, an eye shade that flips out, and an adjustable handlebar.
The chassis has an integrated suspension system that helps reduce the impact of bumpy terrain. The wheels are constructed of tough foam and reduce punctures. Our tester found it smooth to push and was able to maneuver it through narrow streets with ease.
It folds in just four steps and locks automatically without fuss. It also stands and can be trolleyed for easier transport in the car’s boot or down the stairs at home. The travel system comes offered with the option to add an additional car seat or carrycot using the adaptors that are included. The brakes are simple to use with single action colored and flip-flop compatible.
7. Babyzen Duet
This budget single pushchair is surprisingly easy to handle and features great dual suspension, one-hand fold and a practical carry strap. It’s also lightweight and sturdy. The seat is reclined in various positions. It also has a built-in double breathable mattress that’s suitable for babies from birth.
The canopy/seat comes with two large fixed or flip-out sun visors. Both are UPF50+. However the toggle closure isn’t perfect it’s not as quiet as Velcro and may wake napping babies.
The Duet is a side-by-side stroller and can be configured to accommodate twins or siblings (up to 22kg maximum per seat). It can be used with two infant car seats and some carrycots. In twin mode, the seats can be facing each other or turn around and face the parents, theoretically reducing sibling fights over who should sit with dad and mom. It has a huge gear tray, bottle holder, snack trays and the ability to change mats. It also has a superior compact stand fold, and an automatic frame lock.
8. Baby Jogger Urban Glide 2.
The Thule Urban glide 2 is a great jogger for parents who love to be active. It is one of the lightest strollers that you can buy for your child. It also comes with great safety features, such as a 5-point safety harness and wrist safety strap. It also has a twist hand brake that’s different than the lever type found on competing models.
The seat is comfortable and has a wide area to sit in, however the depth of the seat is not as deep as other joggers we’ve tried (it’s about 10″). The storage bin has an enclosed zipper to help keep things secure. It can hold up to 10 pounds, which is enough for the majority of diaper bags.
The Urban Glide 2 doesn’t come with adapters to fit most bassinets and car seats for infants however, you can use them from the first day with adapters that fit brands such as BOB, Graco Combi Evenflo Britax UPPAbaby. It folds compactly and takes 5-10 minutes to assemble with no tools. The instruction manual is easy to read and contains a variety of languages.
