The Best Double Buggy Strollers

If you’re expecting twins or two young children of various ages then a double buggy will help you out and about. The best double buggy is easy to maneuver and is able to handle rough surfaces.

These vehicles also come with features like large sun canopy and see-through hoods, as well adjustable seats.

1. Baby Jogger City Tour Double

The City Tour 2 Double is the smallest double stroller within the Baby Jogger range. It’s designed for travel and easily fits through most standard doorways with its ultra-narrow design. It’s also one of the lightest double buggies on the market weighing just 14lb when folded. It’s perfect for trips with a toddler and a newborn as you won’t over-exceed airline baggage allowances. It also folds up to the size of a backpack so that you can put it away in the back of your car when not being used.

It’s simple to fold the Z-shape with one hand. Once you’ve gotten used to it, it’s small and takes only a few seconds. Our test subject found the auto-lock somewhat confusing, and since the handlebar doesn’t lock into place when you push it, it hit her leg when she was using it. She also believed that the handlebar was on the shorter side. This is particularly true when a large change bag hangs from it.

Unlike other lightweight travel buggies it doesn’t sacrifice features and is among the most comprehensive double strollers that are available. It’s compatible with two carrycots (available separately) and has several recline positions and an UV 50+ canopy. You can add an additional bassinet to either or both seats to create an ideal travel system.

The four rubber composite wheels are ideal for pavements and urban terrain however they’re not made for off-roading. They struggled with long grass and gravel and there’s not much clearance between the wheel and bracket which means that mud could get stuck easily. Our tester loved this buggy, and it was able to climb some beautiful muddy hills.

It’s a heavier tandem buggy but it’s extremely easy to use and steer, especially on smooth roads. It’s stable in double and single mode, and even on sloped terrain. It’s not as easy to use on public transport as it requires two hands on the handlebar. It’s also large and can’t be stuffed into a standard car boot with the seat in place, but this can be overcome by careful planning. iCandy has included the footmuff and changing bag in the price, making this an excellent value package for parents who are just starting out.

The 360-degree swivel wheel is able to be locked to allow for easier maneuvering around town. The one-pedal, easy lock brake is also simple to use.

Our testers noted that the Nipper Double was incredibly easy to manoeuvre, even when taking on uneven ground or turning swiftly in an area with a lot of traffic. The possibility that the seats could be reclined independently was also hugely appreciated.

The hoods were also easy to adjust for sun or wind protection. Our test subjects did notice, however, that they did not provide the same amount of coverage as similar to the Baby Jogger City Mini hoods and it’s recommended to bring a rain jacket just in case.

Overall, our test participants were impressed by the Nipper double’s capacity to let them take their twin daughters Sydney and Lyla to all kinds of adventures. From spotting wildlife in a forest to rushing to the park to play with their friends, they loved it. The testers were also impressed by how spacious and comfortable the two seats are. There’s plenty of room to stretch out for toddlers who are growing. The lack of parent facing seating and the inability of using a car seat in this buggy were cited as a disadvantage by our test participants. They would have also wanted a bigger storage space for shopping and other equipment.
